About the position

Within the Product Development Engineering Student Programs, we aim to create an environment where college students can build foundational skills, gain exposure, and gain understanding of our business. We do this by providing engaging co-op assignments, networking, and developmental opportunities. Upon completion of the program, successful participants are matched to opportunities based on interest and business needs. Positions will be in Southeast Michigan with opportunities in Warren, Milford, or Pontiac, MI.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in the Kettering University co-op program
  • 2025 High School Graduate or current Kettering University Freshman-Sophomore
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities, or service organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Strong interest in General Motors career opportunities
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
  • Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust
  • Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric

  • GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
