About the position

As a Food Service Specialist for the Army National Guard, you will provide the sustenance necessary for fellow Soldiers to perform their duties effectively. This role involves managing dietary and nutritional needs, planning and preparing menus, and ensuring food safety and sanitation in various settings, whether in the field or at a fixed facility.

Responsibilities

  • Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes
  • Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment

Requirements

  • Interest in cooking, home economics, health, mathematics, accounting and chemistry

Nice-to-haves

  • Skills in standard and dietetic menus and recipes
  • Knowledge of food and supply ordering
  • Understanding of storage of meats, poultry and other perishable items
