About the position

Motlow State Community College is accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Sociology Faculty. This is a pool position that may be filled as needed across any of the college's campuses. The salary for this position ranges from $500 to $700 per credit hour. The college is located in the scenic rolling hills of middle Tennessee and serves students from eleven counties. All positions are contingent upon funding availability and budget approval.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality effective instruction in accordance with the catalog description and the approved course syllabus.
  • Facilitate student learning and perform evaluations of student learning for all assigned classes.
  • Teach courses as assigned, including dual enrollment classes at area high schools.
  • Travel to multiple campuses as assigned.
  • Collaborate with faculty, Department Lead, and curriculum chair on curricular and programmatic issues.
  • Support students and the college's strategic plan and goals through collaboration with faculty, administration, and staff.
  • Stay updated on current developments in the teaching discipline and engage in community-based scholarship and creative activities.
  • Teach up to 12 credit hours per semester as assigned.
  • Maintain availability for meetings with students and colleagues throughout the semester.
  • Respond promptly to the Dean's requests and submit all requested paperwork timely and completely.
  • Attend Adjunct Orientation and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in discipline or a qualifying field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Master's degree in any field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in discipline or a qualifying field from a regionally accredited college or university by the application date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctoral degree in discipline or a qualifying field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Three years of Community College teaching experience.
