About the position
As an Advanced Software Engineer here at Honeywell, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge software applications and solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to comprehend complex customer requirements and develop robust software solutions that meet their needs. Your expertise in software development, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in programming languages will be instrumental in delivering high-quality software products that drive innovation and efficiency. In this role, you will be responsible for writing software to test Honeywell's next-generation Resilient Embedded GPS/Inertial Navigation System (EGI). Your work will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of advanced navigation technologies used in mission-critical aerospace and defense applications. You will report directly to our Sr. Engineering Software Technical Manager and you'll work out of our Clearwater, FL location on a hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will have a significant impact by developing innovative software solutions that enhance the performance and functionality of our products. As a mid-level individual contributor, you will collaborate with peers to drive best practices in software engineering and ensure the successful implementation of software projects.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications and solutions
- Work with cross-functional teams to analyze and comprehend complex customer requirements
- Develop scalable and efficient software solutions that meet customer needs
- Develop and maintain test software for our next-generation Resilient Embedded GPS/Inertial Navigation System (EGI)
- Test, debug, and optimize software applications for high performance and reliability
- Document software designs, specifications, and user manuals
- Collaborate with peers and contribute to best practices in software development
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in software development using programming languages such as C, C++, C#, or Python
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience in designing and implementing software solutions for complex systems
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related field
- Experience writing test control software
- Knowledge of product testing, debugging techniques, and performance optimization
- Prior aerospace experience
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Familiarity with software development tools, environments, and best practices
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
