About the position

This position's purpose is to market Butler Athletics through advertising, game day promotions and social media, as well as to generate revenue by assisting with ticket sales and increasing attendance at home events.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the creation & execution of promotional plans for Butler's athletic teams, includes coordinating with coaching staffs, graphic design, desktop publishing, advertising, and event work.
  • Assist in managing Athletic Department social media accounts for purpose of promoting our team's accomplishments, advertising our home events and increasing the level of customer service provided to our fans.
  • Generate revenue through assisting with the sale of tickets, including season, single game and group, as well as hospitality events. Hospitality events includes working with catering and set-up of event space.
  • Direct game entertainment at home athletic events, including script writing, in venue music, coordination of spirit groups, and sponsor fulfillment.
  • Fulfill sponsorship contracts at home athletic events and on social media by working with Learfield Sports Properties.
  • Coordinate department projects and design work with University Marketing, ie schedule posters, billboards, arena signage, print and digital advertising.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-3 years' experience in Marketing, Communications or related field

Nice-to-haves

  • Desktop publishing, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Adobe InDesign and Formstack
  • Graphic Design, including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Copy writing for social media
  • Customer Service, including in-person, via telephone and via email
  • Understanding of and experience with the retail buying calendar, as well ability to forecast trends in merchandising
  • Management and organizational skills as relates to directing a team on projects and on game day
  • Creativity and Adaptability
  • Knowledge of NCAA and BIG EAST rules
