About the position

The Assistant Director for Marketing and Promotions reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and coordinating all marketing, promotions, fan engagement, and creative content for assigned programs within the Athletics Department. This position will work closely with various athletics department staff to ensure marketing content and initiatives are aligned with contractual obligations, fan engagement functions and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and implements marketing strategies, community outreach initiatives and in-game promotional activities for assigned sports to increase fan engagement and game attendance.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of deployed strategies to recommend and implement changes as needed.
  • Responsible for the coordination of all in-game promotional activities, scripts, video and fixed content, and other event presentation channels to ensure a positive and engaging fan experience.
  • Interviews, trains, evaluates, coaches, and offers professional development support for assigned student assistants, graduate assistants, and other temporary hourly personnel to meet department objectives.
  • Provide direct support to various external-facing areas within the athletic department to ensure contractual obligations related to creative content are met.
  • Manage the social media calendar and respond to the needs of selecting sports.
  • Address the broader marketing needs of the university as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • One or more years of professional experience in the field of Athletics working in advertising, promotions, public relations, communications, or related field.
