About the position

The position assists in the daily administration of the athletics department operations and athletic programs. The role supports and contributes to the implementation of strategic initiatives within the department, including proposing, implementing, and assessing short and long-term department goals. It also involves maintaining compliance with university policies and procedures, as well as national association and conference rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and contributes to the implementation of strategic initiatives within the department including proposing, implementing and assessing short and long term department goals
  • Supports the daily administration of the athletics department operations including, but not limited to, fundraising activities, admissions and student athlete academic success
  • Assists in maintaining compliance with university policies and procedures, as well as with national association and conference rules and regulations
  • Serves as the primary liaison for athletics for matters related to gender equity, diversity, inclusion, student-athlete well-being and student leadership
  • Collaborates with other university departments on matters that impact the student-athlete experience including developing programs and opportunities that promote the student athlete experience and support student athlete wellness
  • Administers student athletes' coach evaluations, coordinates and tracks department staff training, onboarding, development, awards and recognition programs and cultivates data trends and themes to assist in enacting departmental enhancements
  • Collaborates with other members of the department to encourage student-athlete involvement in community service and endeavors that support the department and university goals, mission and strategic plan
  • Serves on the President's Athletic Advisory Board to assist in the implementation of athletic and academic integration programs and policies
  • Researches best practices in the industry and makes recommendations on new athletic programs, facilities, initiatives as well as operational and strategic goals
  • Assists with submitting, reviewing and validating data submissions and reports including review of Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act(EADA) reporting, NCAA Financial and Graduation Rates and others, as necessary
  • Represents the university at conference and NCAA events
  • Assists with game management and travel to postseason contests, as necessary
  • Assists with departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Moderate amount of experience working in athletics or other related experience
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • First Aid, CPR, AED certifications, or willingness to attain such certifications upon hire

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and knowledge in NCAA DIII athletics
  • Bachelor's degree or greater in business, sports management or a related field of study
