Responsibilities

  • Create, refine and manage content that effectively conveys our strategies' investment approach, capabilities and portfolio activity.
  • Respond to existing and prospective investor requests for information.
  • Deliver marketing programming and thought leadership to raise awareness about Oaktree's offerings and broad platform capabilities.
  • Assess and support development of new product opportunities.
  • Serve as a surrogate for Oaktree portfolio managers in some client interactions after acquiring and demonstrating expertise.
  • Lead creation of strategy content (e.g., pitch books, custom presentations, commentaries).
  • Build and maintain presentations including standard or custom materials.
  • Search for and highlight relevant sell-side analysis and third-party data for use in presentations.
  • Craft commentary, including in response to client inquiries, prospect RFPs/due diligence questionnaires.
  • Incorporate industry, asset class or competitor trends in new or existing materials.
  • Collaborate with other product specialists and Oaktree departments to standardize, streamline or improve content.
  • Learn compliance and related industry advertising rules to assist in the creation of compliant content.
  • Support fundraising initiatives by partnering with our Marketing and investment team on strategic planning.
  • Build relationships with our Marketing team and drive follow-up where relevant and appropriate.
  • Research and prepare analysis regarding competitive landscape or precedent case studies.
  • Gather intel regarding the market reaction to our products and refine messaging/strategy content accordingly.
  • Support and/or conduct Marketing Rep education about the strategies throughout a fundraising campaign.
  • Participate in product-related investor calls and meetings, including portfolio reviews, fund webcasts, etc.
  • Work with the Corporate Communications & Branding team to identify and deliver client events, conferences, or other programs.
  • Contribute to product development initiatives by researching, proposing and implementing new product ideas.
  • Funnel market intelligence back to Oaktree's investment teams and senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in an investment banking, structuring, investing, financial writing or product/investment specialist role.
  • Experience in structured products or asset finance preferred.
  • Proven ability to quickly develop expertise and fluency in complex financial topics.
  • Ability to interact directly with sophisticated stakeholders in a financial services setting.
  • Demonstrate a high service-orientation.
  • Fluency with MS Office suite for creating client-facing and internal deliverables.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and working collaboratively.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA, CFA (or progress toward CFA), CAIA, or other recognized advanced credentials.
