About the position

At First Orion, User Experience Researcher will need to collaborate with our Product Design team, as well as Product Managers, Engineers, and others to determine what features should be prioritized, built, and how they should behave. The ideal candidate should have the ability to take in multiple avenues of user research, apply critical thinking to the user's behavior and then present the problems needing to be solved effectively to stakeholders. This person needs to be an excellent multi-tasker, be able to work independently within tight time frames and communicate efficiently with all levels within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the lead User Experience Researcher to contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of First Orion's Branded Communication products.
  • Conduct all stages of UX research: identifying, planning, driving, conducting, analyzing, and reporting out insights.
  • Use a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Collaborate with product design, product management, and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions based off your research.
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness based off research insights.
  • Present findings and research deliverables to peers and stakeholders at all levels of the company.
  • Proactively solicit and provide feedback from the design team and a broader product team to continually raise our bar for quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree Business, Computer Science, Marketing or a related degree or 3-5+ years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with user testing and the different user research methodologies.
  • Understanding of user behavior and the different principles behind them.
  • Experience with desktop and mobile design.
  • Experience leading product direction and strategic thinking while developing product goals, identifying opportunities, and making decisions based on the impact to people and the company.
  • Experience presenting work to a broader product team and other leaders, clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts.
  • Proficient level of skills in Figma or another relevant design tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience showcasing your end-to-end research and design process across multiple projects, that include interaction and visual design artifacts, multiple iterations, and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Experience with Hotjar, or equivalent research tooling.
  • Strong desire for creative problem-solving and a willingness to ask questions.
