About the position

We are looking for Cafe Operator candidates for our Bird Rock Coffee Roasters locations. Must have a minimum of 2–3 years of cafe, restaurant, or retail supervisory experience. Coffee, food, people, and positive community involvement are what we focus on at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. We are looking for positive and energetic leaders with outstanding service skills who are driven and passionate about coffee, people, and team development. Our Cafe Operators are on-the-floor leaders who make a big impact on both our teams and our customers. The Cafe Operator is a full-time, hourly position eligible for tips. They work 5 days a week and must be available on weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the daily operations of the cafe and ensuring it opens and closes to company standards.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members throughout shifts to uphold Bird Rock’s high service and quality standards.
  • Providing training support, including second-day onboarding and ongoing hands-on development.
  • Taking accurate inventory and placing vendor orders while managing cost of goods.
  • Delegating tasks and managing shift flow to maintain efficiency and vibe.
  • Monitoring team performance, providing constructive feedback, and supporting individual growth plans in partnership with Retail Operations Manager.
  • Ensuring excellent customer experiences through warm, knowledgeable, and consistent service.
  • Running shift reports, processing end-of-day sales, and handling cash and POS functions properly.
  • Communicating effectively with staff, vendors, and leadership to solve problems and maintain smooth operations.
  • Helping find coverage for open shifts and supporting scheduling needs.
  • Promoting community engagement and connection to the neighborhood.

Requirements

  • Full-time availability including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for up to 4 consecutive hours.
  • 2–3 years of supervisor experience in a cafe, restaurant, or retail setting.
  • Strong coaching, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Passion for hospitality, team development, and high-quality coffee.
