About the position

The Curtis Hotel is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Sales Squad, where we blend extraordinary determination with a lively fun environment. This position involves soliciting, capturing, planning, and coordinating small meetings with 10 rooms or less, as well as social and catering functions. The goal is to maximize banquet space and exceed catering revenue targets. The role requires finalizing catering-only business and recommending program and procedural changes to enhance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through various efforts including outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, and networking.
  • Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture maximum revenue and meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Plan, upsell, and detail meetings/functions with clients, including space requirements, times, equipment, menus, and themes/decorations.
  • Complete contracts and prepare necessary paperwork, including banquet event orders, while coordinating with relevant hotel areas to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare status and period end reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate and hotel procedures, products, and competition to improve sales strategies and achieve goals.
  • Communicate professionally and positively with guests and fellow associates.

Requirements

  • More than two years of post-high school education.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a related position with this company or other organizations.
  • Thorough knowledge of catering, food and beverage practices and procedures, menu development, and pricing.
  • Knowledge of hotel policies and procedures with the ability to determine actions based on these guidelines.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze current activities and information to make logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills for negotiation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Ability to drive for outside sales calls.
  • Excellent comprehension and literacy for developing marketing plans and creating menus.
