About the position

Leidos QTC Health Services within the Leidos Health & Civil Sector has an opening for a Chief Product Officer (CPO). This is a Vice President level role, reporting to the Leidos Health and Civil Chief Technology Officer. The CPO is a senior-level executive responsible for overseeing the entire product development process, from vision to execution, ensuring timely and successful delivery of products. It is a role that's about driving innovation, shaping product experiences, and making strategic product decisions that impact the company's growth. The selected candidate will play a critical leadership role in aligning product strategies with business goals and managing cross-functional teams. We prefer candidates willing to be based in San Dimas, CA; San Antonio, TX; Nashville, TN; or Reston, VA. Some travel may be required to other company facilities or customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing the product engineering vision, objectives, and roadmaps aligned with company strategy.
  • Cultivate a strategic vision for the product, understanding how it fits into the overall company goals.
  • Develop a strong customer-centric mindset, focusing on creating products that meet real customer needs.
  • Become proficient in using data to inform product decisions and measure success.
  • Owning the entire product lifecycle - from ideation, to development, release, and iteration.
  • Overseeing and developing engineering teams, including engineers, managers, and potentially other relevant roles.
  • Building strong relationships and ensuring alignment across various departments like product, design, marketing, and sales.
  • Identifying areas for improvement in the product engineering process and implementing solutions.
  • Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Driving innovation and leading organizational change to improve the product engineering process.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with customers and industry experts to stay informed about trends and best practices.
  • Managing budgets and allocating resources to ensure the successful delivery of products.
  • Participate in the definition and implementation of the long-term technology strategy aligned to the lines of business and Business Area strategy/goals.
  • Must have gone through major mission critical application modernization and transformation to include, migrating legacy applications to cloud.
  • Consult with business leadership on potential solutions to customer's recognized and unrecognized problems and barriers.
  • Seek partnerships with strategic suppliers, renowned universities, and research institutions to increase learning opportunities.
  • Identify and recruit new technical talent, to include development and mentoring mid-to-senior level technical staff.
  • Be a lead collaborator for all technical matters internally and external to the Business Areas and to any other organization within Leidos.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or related field with 15 years of relevant software development experience.
  • Prior experience leading large and complex product development teams.
  • Understand the principles and core tenets of DevOps, such as automation, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), infrastructure as code, and the importance of collaboration between development and operations teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering products faster time-to-market, higher product quality, and better customer experience.
  • Securing business buy-in by translating product vision into clear, data-driven insights.
  • Incorporating low-code/no-code technologies into product strategy.
  • Building and deploying custom applications rapidly to meet customer needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in anticipating customer needs and technological trends to shape new market entries and drive business growth.
  • Hands-on experience leading large mission critical applications through their transformation journey.
  • Knowledge of foundational technologies such as rapid and secure software development, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML).
  • Enterprise IT domain experience and technical competence; specifically, IT technology related to End User services, Compute and Storage, Cloud, Application Development.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with public speaking skills.
  • Ability to influence and persuade others, as well as handle difficult negotiations requiring a well-developed sense of strategy.
  • Foundational certifications from AWS & Salesforce.
  • Ability to mentor, lead, and promote talent.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust level security clearance.
