About the position

This is a bargaining unit position for a Clinical Nurse at Maine Medical Center, specifically in the P6 (Pavilion 6) unit, which is a 21 bed Inpatient Medical Psychiatry unit. The unit serves a medically complex population with a focus on Geriatric Psychiatry. The Clinical Nurse will support Maine Medical Center's mission and values by providing patient and family-centered care, and will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care. The position is full-time and requires night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Support Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values.
  • Exhibit behaviors of excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, and accountability.
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Deliver and coordinate patient and family care across the continuum.
  • Participate in the Nurse Residency Program for new graduate RNs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine.
  • Entry-level position; experience as an RN is not required, but inpatient psychiatry experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of nursing research, theory, practices, principles, and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical ability to identify changes in patients' conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience in inpatient psychiatry.
