About the position

The Community Based Housing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Mental Health (OMH) licensed Treatment Apartment Program (Txt AP) and the Supportive Housing Program (SHP) both in Counties that Programs operate. The Supervisor works closely with the Community Based Services Program Manager to ensure that both programs comply with agency policies and regulatory requirements while delivering high-quality, person-centered support to individuals with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) experiencing homelessness. The Supervisor plays a key leadership role in supporting, guiding, and mentoring program staff, fostering a collaborative team environment, and ensuring individuals receive services that promote housing stability and wellness. The role includes assisting with assessments, oversight of tenancy supports, crisis intervention, landlord collaboration, and community resource coordination. This position may involve flexible hours but generally follows a Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to Txt AP and SHP Case Management staff.
  • Oversee daily operations, support staff with real-time problem-solving, and ensure adherence to program goals and standards.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and onboarding of new staff in coordination with the Program Manager.
  • Monitor service delivery and documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure staff maintain appropriate contact with clients and complete all required home visits and assessments.
  • Support individuals with locating, securing, and maintaining safe and stable housing.
  • Conduct or oversee assessments and service planning to match individuals with the most appropriate housing option.
  • Ensure timely completion of required documentation, including assessments, service plans, progress notes, and reports.
  • Coordinate tenancy support services, including conflict resolution, linkage to community resources, and benefit navigation.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with landlords and community providers to support housing access and retention.
  • Provide crisis support or coverage as needed, including in community-based settings such as shelters, jails, or hospitals.
  • Serve as a liaison between program staff and management to ensure seamless communication and team cohesion.
  • Coordinate with treatment teams, families, and external agencies to support client progress and housing stabilities.
  • Assist the Program Manager with internal and external reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in case management or housing support services for individuals with mental health and/or substance use needs.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience in OMH Housing Programs strongly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer applications.
  • Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License and reliable transportation.
