About the position

Join Nelnet as an intern and do real work that matters to our business. Join a dynamic, project-based internship where creativity meets strategy. You'll help reimagine Nelnet's intranet to better serve thousands of associates-impacting how people learn, connect, and collaborate. Working alongside innovative professionals and fellow interns, you'll contribute to real-world projects that blend content strategy, IT structure, design, messaging, and governance. From day one, you'll play an active role in testing, QA, and content population, all while learning how to manage a large-scale digital initiative and see the big picture behind it. Along the way, you'll build your strategic skills, gain exposure to high-impact marketing campaigns, and better understand the thinking behind the decisions marketers make. This internship has flexible start and end dates that run from Mid-August to February 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Audit internal sites to identify duplicated and unique content.
  • Assist in developing a company-wide glossary to enhance search functionality.
  • Update article headlines and metadata to improve searchability and engagement.
  • Support governance teams in implementing new naming conventions and tagging strategies.
  • Identify frequently searched terms and map them to relevant content.
  • Contribute to the development of a content calendar and FAQ initiative.
  • Create and populate Viva Engage communities based on location, skills, and activities.
  • Help develop messaging for internal campaigns.
  • Brainstorm and launch conversation starters to foster engagement in new communities.
  • Review and curate learning resources from SharePoint Learning and the M365 Help Center.
  • Collaborate with copywriters to create a year-long series of educational quick tips.
  • Build training slide decks and coordinate training events.
  • Assist in organizing and migrating intranet content to align with updated structures.
  • Provide QA support for new page builds and content updates.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, business administration, UX/UI, or a related field.
  • Incoming college sophomore or above.
  • Strong interest in internal communications, content management, and digital platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within diverse teams.
  • Takes initiative and seeks to solve problems.
  • Has a natural bias for action.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with SharePoint is a plus.
