About the position

This position is a federal role that requires candidates to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs such as the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps. Candidates must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in previous positions, including the total number of hours worked per week. The position requires compliance with radiological certification standards as outlined in Public Law 97-35 and 42 CFR Part 75, which mandates that individuals administering radiological procedures must have completed an accredited educational program and be certified as radiographers. The job is open for applications from December 4, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Administer radiological procedures in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Provide dental assistance in general or specialized dentistry.
  • Set up instruments for dental procedures and provide chairside assistance.
  • Record treatments rendered and provide receptionist services.
  • Expose and process digital oral x-rays.

Requirements

  • Radiological Certification Requirements for GS-3 and GS-4.
  • At least 3 months of general experience for GS-02 level.
  • At least 6 months of general experience for GS-03 level.
  • Completion of a 1-year dental assistant program or a 1-year dental hygiene program for GS-03 level.
  • At least 6 months of specialized experience for GS-04 level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a 2-year dental assistant program or a 2-year dental hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Association.
