About the position

The Dental Hygienist is responsible for the removal of hard and soft deposits of stains, calculus and plaque from teeth as well as administering preventive dental care in a community health care setting. The Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing patient care and working with health center providers and staff to ensure quality outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Remove hard and soft deposits of stains, calculus, and plaque from teeth.
  • Administer preventive dental care in a community health care setting.
  • Provide patient care and work with health center providers and staff to ensure quality outcomes.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted license to practice dental hygiene in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Cannot be sanctioned under Medicaid or Medicare.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of primary dental hygiene care in outpatient settings.
  • Knowledge of principles and practice of modern dental hygiene related to public health organizations.
  • Understanding of current social and economic problems affecting public health.
  • Ability to work creatively with the Dental Director and other health care professionals.
  • Current CPR (BLS) certificate required.
