About the position

Join our team as a DevOps Engineer and play a key role in accelerating software delivery to NSWC PHD. You'll be instrumental in developing and maintaining our CI/CD pipelines, working hand-in-hand with software developers, testers, and infrastructure experts. Your efforts will directly lead to more secure, reliable, and efficient software releases through automation and process optimization. This position requires you to work onsite at our Port Hueneme, CA location.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support application deployment and infrastructure automation
  • Collaborate with software engineers and QA team to ensure pipelines are reliable and scalable
  • Implement automated testing, integration, and deployment solutions using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar
  • Monitor and improve system performance, availability, and security of CI/CD infrastructure
  • Maintain and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) environments (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Support application development team with day-to-day DevOps needs including version control, configuration management, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Participate in Agile development activities including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Candidate must have 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Software Engineering with a focus on CI/CD
  • Candidate must have strong experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar
  • Candidate must be proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)
  • Candidate must have familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Candidate must have experience working in Agile environments
  • Candidate must have strong troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Candidate must have an Active Secret Clearance (Interim acceptable to start)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on DoD or federal government contracts
  • Familiarity with security compliance standards (e.g., STIGs, RMF, NIST)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar)
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)
