About the position

The position involves maintaining a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and being a strong Christian witness in all interactions with youth, staff, donors, volunteers, and the general public to uphold Black Mountain Home’s mission of Glorifying God by caring for children, youth, and families. The role includes attending staff and team meetings, participating in Christian devotion and prayer, and staying updated on ministry through meeting minutes. Regular prayer for the youth, staff, volunteers, donors, and ministry impact is also a key responsibility. The position supports the Development and Community Relations team in creating, implementing, and evaluating fundraising and marketing strategies to sustain and grow the ministry. Responsibilities include creating content for direct mail and other communications, leading efforts to engage support from various stakeholders, and developing stewardship strategies for key constituencies. The role also involves maintaining promotional materials, adhering to IRS nonprofit gift accounting guidelines, and providing support for special events and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a strong Christian witness.
  • Attend staff and team meetings, including participation in Christian devotion and prayer.
  • Pray regularly for the youth, staff, volunteers, donors, and ministry impact.
  • Support the Development and Community Relations team in fundraising and marketing strategies.
  • Create content and serve as project manager for direct mail and other communications.
  • Lead efforts to engage and increase support from individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations.
  • Develop and implement stewardship and retention strategies for key constituencies.
  • Maintain up-to-date brochures and flyers for ministry programs and on social media.
  • Create invitations, promotional materials, and sponsor guides for events.
  • Adhere to IRS nonprofit gift accounting guidelines and share best practices with team members.
  • Provide back-up and support for frontline stewardship activities.
  • Provide back-up and support for special events, projects, and community relations.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, problem solve, and maintain a continuous improvement approach.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser's Edge, or similar donor database platform.
  • Three years of experience in Donor Communication and Stewardship, Annual Fund and Direct Mail Management, and Fundraising and Marketing Content.
