As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Float Staff, you will play a crucial role by providing compassionate care while enhancing the quality of life for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care within Supported Living homes in Tacoma/Lakewood and will provide staffing support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills. Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide client care in a float capacity for schedules, emergencies, or fill-in assignments at designated supported living homes
  • Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating
  • Implement positive behavior supports
  • Prepare meals and snacks
  • Perform light household duties
  • Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices
  • Participate in community activities and outings
  • Assist with transportation needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 6 months of DSP/Caregiving experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is required
  • Experience in Supported Living strongly preferred
  • Must have valid driver's license to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (days/evenings)
  • Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral
  • Have a passion to help others
  • Works well independently
  • Dependable and adaptable
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • 18 years of age or older (required)
  • Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training
