About the position

This position will work with the General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the marketing department to promote the facilities and events while creating and maintaining relationships with media and promotional partners. The marketing director will execute and oversee advertising, media buying, promotions, public relations, and grassroots efforts for events as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the marketing team to develop and engage in marketing, advertising, solicitation, and promotional activities.
  • Serve as press contact, write, and distribute press releases such as media releases, story pitches, interviews, etc.
  • Responsible for the creation, development, and implementation of the Crown Complex marketing and advertising plan.
  • Identify, develop, and evaluate marketing strategy, based on knowledge of established objectives and market characteristics.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include planning, assigning, directing the work of assigned employees and assisting in their day-to-day needs as necessary.
  • Develop marketing plans and strategies for events exercising sound judgment.
  • Oversee and implement marketing plans including the creation of advertising materials, media buying, promotions, grassroots, interactive efforts, and public relations for events.
  • Negotiate, close, and implement media and promotional agreements for the Crown Complex events with promoters and media clients and review and approve agreements presented by the marketing staff.
  • Oversee written letters of agreements including negotiating terms.
  • Responsible for weekly corporate marketing reports and participated in monthly conference calls with other Oak View Group entities.
  • Supervise and create collateral materials such as print ads, promotional pieces, posters, schedules, calendars, and various ticket brochures from concept to completion.
  • Responsible for the management of detailed media budgets, settlement reconciliations, and recap summaries for facility events.
  • Oversee and coordinate marketing efforts between promoters, artist management and local media.
  • Develop, implement and approve media drop and public relations campaigns.
  • Oversee research projects/upcoming shows.
  • Oversee and update website, marquee, and in-arena address systems (including flyers, posters, TV creative).
  • Manage database and email campaigns.
  • Develop new marketing programs and initiatives to maximize ticket sales such as third-party partnerships, new media avenues.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of annual marketing goals, objectives, policies and priorities.
  • Work in conjunction with Group Sales, Premium Services, and Corporate Partnership managers to maximize revenues.
  • Oversees the Management of intern recruitment and assignments.
  • Create, plan, and implement repeatable revenue-generating events, innovative marketing programs, concepts, and processes.
  • Responsible for measuring, reporting, and achieving performance against agreed-upon service levels and ROIs.
  • Create collateral materials such as in-venue digital assets, ads, promotional pieces, schedules, and various brochures from concept to completion.
  • Research, analyze, and monitor industry trends so that market opportunities may be capitalized on, and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.
  • Leverage strong research and analytical skills to analyze data and inform management on key perceptions and trends to drive strong decision-making.
  • Update content on the website and direct web development company on-site features, design, and goals.
  • Responsible for the coordination of marketing between promoters, artist management, and local media including guiding and assisting media buying and marketing of events.
  • Responsible for compilation of all event settlement information including oversite of annual marketing budget.
  • Track, analyze, and compare event sales information, sales by city reports, and the weekly sales report.
  • Responsible for the creation of the Annual report and annual Marketing and Communications plans.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, public relations, business administration, or another related field.
  • 5-7 years of increasingly responsible experience in marketing, preferably with an arena, sports team, stadium, convention center, performing arts facility or other multi-purpose public assembly facility.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Ticketmaster, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of marketing, advertising/sponsorship programs, and Public Relations.
  • Excellent, concise verbal and written communication skills in the English language, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to project a professional manner and appearance, and communicate effectively with clients, senior management, staff, and the general public.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and an internal motivation that inspires others to think more and do more.
  • A results-driven leader who thinks in terms of ROI with increasing per caps and generating profitability.
  • Flexible skill set that can be applied across a variety of relationships/situations with a track record of success.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, production, etc.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, days, evenings, holidays, extended workdays for an extended number of days, as needed.
