About the position

The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales and marketing plans against a defined hotel budget to maximize revenues through direct sales, marketing, e-commerce channels, public relations, and community partnerships. This is a hybrid position that requires a strong focus on e-commerce presence and managing internet market and social media opportunities. The role involves working in partnership with revenue management to develop, communicate, and implement sales strategies, channel management, and pricing strategies. The Director will also monitor the achievement of objectives for the sales team and take appropriate action to correct shortfalls versus the annual marketing plan, ensuring that annual hotel revenue goals are met as established in the budget.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans against a defined hotel budget.
  • Maximize revenues through direct sales, marketing, e-commerce channels, public relations, and community partnerships.
  • Manage internet market and social media opportunities and relationships.
  • Work in partnership with revenue management to develop and implement sales strategies and pricing strategies.
  • Use internal and external resources to develop strategic plans for all business segments.
  • Identify customer business requirements and craft offers to increase revenue share for the hotel.
  • Monitor achievement of objectives for the sales team and correct shortfalls as needed.
  • Achieve annual hotel revenue goals as established in the budget.
  • Maintain relationships with key accounts to increase customer satisfaction and revenue.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions that satisfy customer requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain a current annual marketing plan with measurable initiatives.
  • Model proper selling techniques and develop others.
  • Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates.
  • Travel locally to conduct outside calls and promote the hotel.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree required; additional/advanced degree coursework in business administration, marketing, and communications is a plus.
  • Previous sales experience in a comparable hotel size and scope required; operations experience preferred.
  • Public relations and community marketing experience required.
  • Proficient in use of Excel, Word, Delphi, and access database tools.
