We're seeking a future team member for a UX / Design subject matter expert to lead a small team to solve our most complex product design challenges for the Design Hub within BNY Structured as Accelerator teams, they are set up to partner with different areas of the bank that have not historically worked with Design, on a project basis. This role is located in New York, NY - HYBRID.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all activities within product design, including user research and testing, interaction design, and visual design
  • Actively fine-tune expertise in the field and resolve complex issues facing the team
  • Determine methods and procedures for new assignments and coordinate activities of others
  • Provide comprehensive consultation to management and staff related to user research, usability testing, surveys, interviews, work studies, and heuristic evaluations
  • Review documentation of research findings presented to product and development teams
  • Define and review new and modified user personas
  • Participate in the creation of concepts, information architecture, user interface designs, wireframes, storyboards, prototypes, and specifications to meet project schedules
  • Lead the implementation of visual styles that support platform branding to increase user effectiveness
  • Consult on and interpret user feedback and insights to improve the user experience
  • Serve as reviewer of usability activities and artifacts to ensure software applications meet customer expectations for use
  • Provide UX expertise to the product definition and evaluation process utilizing multiple sources of information
  • Act as principal consultant and lead the creation and updating of user interface and visual design guidelines and standards
  • Advocate for user-centered design and the value of standardized design systems across the firm
  • Ensure that developed/revised products achieve user goals by establishing user-centered analysis, design, best practices, and standards
  • Lead range of complex projects that dictate team success, with internal and cross-functional outcomes that require in-depth analysis and evaluation of variable factors
  • Build strong relationships with people on their immediate team and across the company
  • Create formal networks with key decision makers and cross-functional partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, user experience, design, human computer interaction, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 12+ years of experience required
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus
