About the position

KQED is offering a paid internship in the Education Department, specifically for the Events Marketing Intern position. This internship will run from July 7th, 2025 through December 19th, 2025, requiring 16 hours of work per week at a current salary of $19.18 per hour. The Education Department provides services to K-12 educators and students, focusing on elevating diverse youth voices through media making, media literacy, and civic engagement. The intern will support online workshop marketing and production, as well as KQED's presence at industry conferences. Opportunities to collaborate on various marketing campaigns will also be available based on the intern's interests and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support online workshop marketing and production
  • Manage online calendar of events, including publishing new events and removing past events
  • Assist in the creation of the internal marketing kit for the summer event season
  • Set up workshops in Zoom Sessions
  • Write workshop follow-up communications
  • Report event data
  • Create tabletop signage for conferences
  • Write follow-up communications for conferences
  • Assist with packing exhibiting materials
  • Provide general support for Education marketing campaigns based on interests and experience

Requirements

  • Interest and/or experience in events, marketing, education, media literacy, and/or youth voice
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to take direction and work independently
  • Self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and complete tasks on time
  • Strong skills with Google Suite (documents, spreadsheets, presentations)
  • Comfortable working in spreadsheets and organizing data

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience setting up webinars/events on Zoom
  • Familiarity with Canva and proficiency with basic image editing and sizing
