The mission of this position is to diagnose, adjust, repair, and maintain all company diesel semi trucks and trailers. The role involves a variety of essential duties including inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition. The technician will use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools like pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists. Responsibilities also include adjusting and relining brakes, aligning wheels, tightening bolts and screws, and reassembling equipment. The technician will perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery, as well as repairing and maintaining company trailers. The role requires embracing Purcell’s culture of safety and performing all jobs in a safe manner while maintaining standards of cleanliness and orderliness in the maintenance shed. Regular attendance in accordance with the assigned schedule is expected, along with the ability to perform physical requirements as listed in the job description.
