The main purpose of this position is to provide evaluative and consultative services to courts around the State, in addition to operating in a liaison role with clinical teams at the hospital regarding legal issues faced by their patients. This position includes conducting evaluations as to defendants’ competency for trial and criminal responsibility, writing reports, testifying as needed in the District and Circuit Courts of Maryland, conducting risk assessment consultations, conducting groups with court-committed patients, representing the hospital at Statewide meetings and in county-level forensic meetings, representing the hospital in administrative hearings and teaching/supervising psychology trainees. The Office of Forensic Services supports the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery-oriented environment.
