Formulation Development Scientist - Drug Product Development (R&D) - Reykjavik (Iceland)

About the position

Alvotech is seeking a motivated Drug Product Formulation Development Scientist to join the Drug Product Development team in Reykjavik. In this role, you will work on the development of liquid/lyophilized formulations of life-changing biologics (biosimilars) and finished dosage forms, focusing on protein chemistry and its interaction with other molecules (excipients) and drug product manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design, perform and report studies/experiments in the development of liquid/lyophilized biologics formulations.
• Identify stabilizing excipients and formulation conditions by biophysical characterization methods and stability assessments from early-stage throughout late-stage development.
• Develop formulations for clinical and commercial drug product manufacturing.
• Work closely with other drug product development teams to ensure compatibility of the formulations with the container closure system and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure seamless transfer of the formulations from development to manufacturing.

Requirements

• BSc/MSc degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical science or other relevant discipline.
• Hands-on experience in working with proteins in a biochemical laboratory.
• Relevant experience in biopharmaceutical drug product development is desirable, but not a requirement.
• Flexible, open-minded and motivated scientists that are excited about biopharmaceutical development.
