About the position
A Golf Ranger's primary responsibility is to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for golfers by managing pace of play, enforcing rules, and providing excellent customer service. They act as an ambassador for the golf course, maintaining a positive and helpful presence on the course.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the pace of play, ensuring rounds are completed within a reasonable timeframe.
- Politely advise slow groups to speed up and address bottlenecks to prevent delays.
- Inform golfers of course rules and regulations, including cart path usage, dress codes, and other relevant guidelines.
- Provide assistance, information, and address any issues or concerns that may arise.
- Ensure the safety of players and staff, addressing any hazards, and preventing unauthorized access to the course.
- Assist with minor course maintenance tasks like raking bunkers, repairing ball marks, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Maintain clear communication with the golf shop or other relevant staff, providing updates on course conditions, pace of play, and any incidents.
- Resolve minor issues on the course, such as disputes or equipment malfunctions, and escalate more serious problems to the appropriate supervisor.
- Promote the golf course and its events, contributing to a positive overall experience.
- Provide directions and information to golfers based on familiarity with the course layout.
Requirements
- Good understanding of the game of golf, including rules and etiquette.
- Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with golfers.
- Ability to handle disputes and complaints in a calm and professional manner.
- Physical stamina to spend extended periods outdoors, often involving walking or driving a golf cart.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively without constant supervision.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and address issues on the course efficiently.
- Familiarity with the course layout.
