About the position

The track and field head coach is responsible for leading all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division I track and field program including, but not limited to: budget management, recruiting, fundraising, supervision of staff, a commitment to student-athlete health and welfare, and directing skill instruction and development. The successful candidate must be fully committed to all NCAA, The Ohio Valley Conference, and Western Illinois University Athletics Department policies and procedures, and will be expected to work cooperatively with all constituencies and campus units.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division I track and field program.
  • Manage the program's budget.
  • Recruit academically and athletically prepared intercollegiate student-athletes.
  • Fundraise for the program.
  • Supervise coaching staff.
  • Commit to student-athlete health and welfare.
  • Direct skill instruction and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit academically and athletically prepared intercollegiate student-athletes.
  • Record of competitive success in coaching intercollegiate track and field.
  • Proven competencies in administrative and public relations abilities.
  • Ability to establish good rapport and working relationships with student-athletes, coaching staffs, administration, university personnel, and the general public.
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and proven record of adherence to all NCAA academic and compliance rules and regulations.
