The position involves providing timely support for operational activities, responsible for the production and care of field & greenhouse plants, including soil preparation, sowing, planting, weed control, pollination, pest and disease monitoring, pesticide application, fertilization, irrigation, and harvesting. The role also includes maintaining proper documentation, assisting with the development and evaluation of breeding material, seed inventory management, general maintenance of the greenhouse facility, executing crop programs, leading and training temporary and seasonal workers, coordinating with other technicians, and supporting HSE compliance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely support for operational activities.
  • Responsible for the production and care of field & greenhouse plants.
  • Activities include soil preparation, sowing, planting, weed control, pollination, pest and disease monitoring, pesticide application, fertilization, irrigation, and harvesting.
  • Maintain proper documentation.
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of breeding material, including trial preparation, disease screening, sample and data collection, pollination, seed processing and treatment.
  • Assist with seed inventory management.
  • Responsible for general maintenance of the greenhouse facility, irrigation system and equipment.
  • Execute crop programs to the expectations of the breeding and research staff.
  • Lead and train temporary and seasonal workers to conduct greenhouse and field activities.
  • Coordinate with other technicians for supplies management, purchases, tasks and workers allocation.
  • Implement proper cultural management of different crops, including cleanliness of the farms and nurseries.
  • Support HSE compliance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • AS or BS college degree in an agriculture-related field is preferred (Seed Technology, Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Breeding, Agronomy).
  • Experience related to plant science or horticulture is preferred.
  • Training or experience in one or more of the following areas: vegetable crop production, seed multiplication, agricultural quality assurance, seed technology, plant breeding or plant pathology.
  • Leadership skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm for active learning, and an interest in plant biology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Computer literacy is required and good organizational abilities.
  • The position requires the ability to work for long periods in both field and greenhouse environments and work on weekends and off-office hours.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to obtain a CO pesticide license.
