About the position

The Deputy Building Inspector will provide special inspection support for the LAWA Quality Assurance and Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program. This role requires knowledge of multiple code requirements, effective communication, and time management.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain comprehensive daily inspection reports that capture the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all construction work activities, while ensuring the reports are clear and concise to accurately reflect daily progress.
  • Assist in reviewing monthly progress payment requests when assigned to a program.
  • Track various changes, verify time and material work, measure, and document job quantities.
  • Conduct special inspections on various disciplines.
  • Possess experience, knowledge, and understanding of methods used throughout construction.

Requirements

  • Valid Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) Deputy Licenses in Concrete Construction, Spray-Applied Fireproofing, Drilled-in-Anchors/Seismic Resistance, and Steel Construction.
  • Proof of Cal-OSHA 30-hr training within the last 4 years prior to assignment.
  • 5 years or more of experience performing as a LADBS Deputy Building Inspector on large-scale projects.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • CAL OSHA-30 certification.
  • Fall protection and harness training.
  • Confined Space Entry Training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possession of other deputy licenses is preferred.
  • Experience with Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (i.e. PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, etc.).
