About the position

You will be a member of the reliability lab team, supporting the development of Google Hardware through reliability testing. Central to this role is an advanced understanding in both theory and practice of mechanical and environmental reliability test methods, test instrumentation/transducers, data acquisition, and signal processing. Your expertise with data collection/signal acquisition techniques will contribute to the reliability and product development teams by providing a data driven basis for design decisions. Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.

Responsibilities

  • Set up instrumentation for mechanical, environmental and electrical tests. Generate conceptual and detailed sketches and layouts.
  • Interface with internal customers to identify test system requirements. Propose test instrumentation solutions. Troubleshoot test setups, including data acquisition systems, accelerometer, load cells, strain gauges, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and general time varying signals.
  • Develop reliability test instrumentation systems including instrumentation and data collection system design, detailed documentation, and maintenance requirements. Plan, setup, and execute environmental and mechanical reliability tests, working with Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to develop solutions.
  • Perform reliability test procedures and mentor others, while creating custom test setups and strategies to facilitate reliability testing of various hardware components and systems. Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical test setups, test equipment, data acquisition systems, signal processing issues.
  • Create post-test reports and present data in a meaningful manner to best convey information.

Requirements
