About the position

As a technical lead substation design engineer at Black & Veatch, you will be responsible for developing electrical design deliverables, including protection and control design and physical design for substations. You will actively participate in management, project scheduling, and work/resource planning meetings, and interface directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Additionally, you will be involved in QA/QC projects and mentor junior engineers. This role is part of BV's Energy & Process business, which focuses on meeting clients' rapidly changing infrastructure needs in the generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of electric power. You will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative energy solutions and sustainable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a technical lead substation design engineer.
  • Develop electrical design deliverables, including protection and control design and/or physical design.
  • Participate in management, project scheduling, and work/resource planning meetings.
  • Interface directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • QA/QC projects and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Substation Design experience - Physical and Protection & Controls (P&C).
  • Project Lead experience - Leading teams as technical leader/SME and mentor.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control of substation design projects (QA/QC).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
