About the position

With general direction, this role is responsible for all of the Integrated System Planning tools across Avangrid. These tools will support the Integrated System Planning process, related with the capital Investment Plan, development of Cyme Network Models, Load Forecast, Hosting Capacity and additional regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include training the users on the use and purposes of the tools, as well as evaluation and development of additional tools that could improve the accuracy and efficiency of the Integrated System Planning department. This position will coordinate with other departments during the tools development.

Responsibilities

  • Development, implementation and maintenance of the Integrated System Planning Tools across Avangrid related with: Investment Plan, Load Forecast, Network Modelling, Hosting Capacity, Additional requirements (based on regulatory demands)
  • Provide technical support to the users of the tools.
  • Maintains established Department documentation and reporting retention requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance and consulting to other departments as necessary.
  • Other ancillary duties related to the core functions of the job as assigned.
  • Assists during storm restoration.
  • Utilize knowledge to influence and guide department engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership in complex projects that have a wide impact on the department.
  • Mentor, develop and support team in technical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Liaison/direct contractors on company policy, standards and best practices.
  • Work independently with little supervision.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent plus 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Analysis and design of object-oriented solutions.
  • Proficiency with C# using Visual Studio.
  • Proficiency with HTML, JSON, javascript (jQuery framework a plus).
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with Sql Server (including spatial data): Data modeling, data management and data manipulation.
  • Performance tuning.
  • Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytics, Modeling & Calculation (e.g. sym. Components, per unit, etc.), Understanding the Business Model.
  • Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization, develop business case and defend in front of stakeholders).
  • Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation, review and approve engineering work done by others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Cyme Graph theory knowledge.
  • Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Version control tools such as Git, SVN.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment: Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and Requirements (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.).
