About the position

S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking Lead II, Full-stack Developer with backend and frontend development expertise to be a key player in planning, preparation and development of software for key platform. This role requires a seasoned engineer who works effectively, both independently as well as collaboratively, in a team environment. The candidate must be a delivery-focused person with financial applications experience and skills. The candidate will assist with designing, development, and maintenance of solutions for multiple technology platforms, that technology team supports.

Responsibilities

  • Design and development of Java full-stack applications for SPDJI web platform systems
  • Migrate existing applications to Java based micro services, deploy using docker and containers
  • Participate in multiple software development processes including requirement analysis, design, coding, testing and Documentation
  • Develop software applications based on clear business specifications
  • Work on new initiatives and support existing Index applications
  • Perform Application & System Performance tuning and troubleshoot performance issues
  • Build applications with object-oriented concepts and apply design patterns
  • Setup development environment / sandbox for application development
  • Perform unit testing of application code and fix errors
  • Interface with databases to extract information and build reports
  • Effectively interact with customers, business users and IT staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in designing, developing, testing and successfully deploying critical and complex projects
  • Strong Java skills with experience in development of concurrent and distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience in HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery, and Angular 2+
  • Advanced experience with Spring-based technologies (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud etc.) and caching frameworks like Hazelcast
  • Experience in designing and implementing micro services-based solutions
  • Should have experience writing unit/integration tests
  • Experience writing SQL queries and good understanding of data model
  • Good understanding of AWS cloud (EC2, ECS, Load Balancer, Security Group, Lambda, S3, etc.)
  • Experience in DevOps development and deployment using docker and containers
  • Good knowledge about Infrastructure and exposure to CICD
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
