About the position

The Lead IT Product Owner is responsible for setting product management strategy, providing direction, leadership, and budgetary management. This role will be responsible for the development of product roadmaps, product plans, strategies, and tactics while coordinating product lines through product life cycles in coordination with the broader Product Management team. The overall objective of this role is to coordinate the promotion of products to develop new markets, increase share of market, and obtain competitive position.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Data Governance: Implement and maintain data governance policies and standards within the product development lifecycle.
  • Leverage Data Experience: Utilize extensive data experience to drive product innovation and improve existing solutions, focusing on data-driven insights.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with product development and data management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Initiate the development process, document project scope, product vision, prioritize user stories, set feature-level priorities, and conduct demos and walkthroughs.
  • Hold themselves and Business Analysts accountable for writing stories/tasks that meet the Definition of Ready.
  • Drive alignment of peer Product teams and coordinate with/understand Stakeholder priorities to act as the voice of the customer.
  • Create, prioritize, and maintain a product backlog.
  • Perform/oversee user acceptance testing to identify and remedy defects and approve final testing results.
  • Develop methods to identify data patterns and trends in available data sources, perform data quality analytics, and identify data challenges.
  • Contribute to Data Quality resolution strategies and practices.
  • Assist in data improvement initiatives in compliance with Citi Data Governance Policy.
  • Liaise with other areas of the firm to understand data challenges and solutions.
  • Support identification of data quality rules, thresholds, and other business requirements.
  • Manage the strategic product development and/or existing product enhancement roadmap as well as program development, including program launch and marketing.
  • Leverage internal/external partners and subject matter expertise to innovate and define new products/solutions.
  • Participate in the formulation of strategies around resource allocation between traditional research and analytics solutions and data-focused solutions.
  • Manage the creation and negotiation of client agreements, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and/or vendor contracts.
  • Interface with operations and technology for process design and vendor procurement.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in IT Product Management.
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in leveraging Data Experience to drive product innovation and improve existing solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability in Risk Management related to product development and data management.
  • Strong experience in data transformation and data concepts, understands data platforms and interdependencies.
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team to define and achieve high-value business goals.
  • Diverse functional experience (e.g., marketing, credit, acquisitions, product development, analytics).
  • Demonstrated experience driving business innovation, leveraging management information, and data analytics to drive results.
  • Experience in scenario development and forecasting, as well as experience serving clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of product development, financial acumen, and investment processes across asset classes.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
