About the position

The Lead Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service to patients and visitors. This individual will oversee a team of receptionists, ensure smooth daily operations while strive to meet operational service goals. As a key team member, the Lead Medical Receptionist will contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and support the staff with their daily tasks and professional development. Additionally, this role includes collaborating with hospital administration to gather performance feedback and track performance metrics effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and assists with day-to-day activities and prioritization of tasks.
  • Leads and assists with daily administrative functions for the hospital reception team in general operations.
  • Assists medical billing and collections including allied health services.
  • Assists reception and welcomes patients and visitors into the hospital and offer assistance with any inquiries they may have, including checking them in for their appointment.
  • Assists in answering phone calls and emails in a prompt and efficient manner and routing them to the proper department.
  • Coverage for front desk during absences or during lunch breaks as required.
  • Active participation in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative lead role preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Medical terminology knowledge highly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Effective verbal and listening skills.
  • Time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree or higher in Healthcare Administration preferred.
