Lead Software Engineer (Backend, C#, .NET Core, API)

About the position

We're looking for a Lead Backend Software Engineer with deep expertise in server-side development and a proven track record of leading technical teams. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems and APIs, while also mentoring team members and contributing to architectural decisions. The Lead Backend Software Engineer will work closely with Product, Data Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure rapid, predictable and stable software delivery.

• Lead the design and development of scalable services and APIs using modern technologies.
• Emphasize performance, reliability, and robust architecture.
• Shape backend infrastructure and make critical system design decisions.
• Optimize database performance and data architecture.
• Deliver high-impact features that drive the product forward.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership, senior, or lead engineer role.
• 3+ years of experience with C# and .NET Core.
• 3+ years of experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL and relational databases (preferably SQL Server).
• Experience with caching strategies (Redis, Memcached).
• Knowledge of backend security best practices (authentication, authorization, OWASP).
• Solid understanding of unit testing.
• AWS and deploying cloud-based applications.
• Experience using Source Control (Git and GitFlow).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, AMQP).
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Experience with GraphQL API development.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and CQRS patterns.
• Experience performance profiling and optimization.
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts.
• Experience with data streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis).
• Experience with database migration strategies.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline optimization for backend services.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to microservices architecture and system design.
• Experience with GitHub Actions pipelines.
