About the position

Soldiers, scientists, adventurers, oddities… engineers! We are the Overwatch team, passionate gamers at heart. We're looking for a new hero to help us make Overwatch 2 - the globe-spanning sequel to Blizzard Entertainment's acclaimed team-based game. Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical Direction: Guide server features engineers in developing innovative solutions to support the vision of our design team.
  • Personnel Management: Oversee server feature engineers, including task assignment, performance evaluation, and career development.
  • Engineering Leadership: Take an active role in team leadership, representing the server engineers in interdisciplinary discussions and decisions.
  • Task and Schedule Management: Collaborate with other leads and producers to establish tasks, schedules, and priorities, ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain effective and productive relationships with key internal partners, facilitating clear communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Own and drive the learning processes for the server engineering team, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.

Requirements

  • 12 + years’ experience in game programming, including experience working on at least one AAA shipped title (or a mix of work experience and education)
  • Strong C++ programming skills
  • Experience building metagame features for a networked multiplayer game
  • Experience working on and maintaining a live service game
  • Understanding of distributed systems
  • Comfortable working within and adding to an established codebase
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
