About the position

The Long Term Substitute for Special Education Teacher position at Romney Middle School is designed for the 2025-2026 school year or until a qualified applicant is hired. The teacher will be responsible for providing appropriate instruction to students, ensuring they meet the learning objectives and standards for their grade level and subject area. The position is supervised by the Principal and is classified as exempt under FLSA. The employment term is as needed until a certified applicant is hired, and the salary will be in accordance with the Hampshire County Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and implementing WV academic standards, content, and objectives
  • Responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs
  • Responsible for implementing technology skills
  • Responsible for planning and implementing inclusion with special education students
  • Responsible for student achievement
  • Responsible for planning and implementing co-teaching as appropriate
  • Analyze data and plan academic support
  • Collaborate with other professional staff to enhance instruction
  • Responsible for planning and implementing designated co-curricular activities and/or programs at the school such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips
  • Responsible for administering formative assessments
  • Responsible for planning and implementing personalized learning
  • Communicate with students, parents, and peers in an efficient manner
  • Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
  • Address and implement students' IEPs and 504 Plans and recommends revisions when needed
  • Meet professional responsibilities
  • Maintain professional work habits and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct
  • Implement any other programs designated by principal for school improvement
  • Includes supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal

Requirements

  • Valid Professional Teaching Certification in all endorsement areas
  • Long Term Substitute Permits pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2
  • Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10
  • Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a
  • Ability to perform job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
