About the position

Our Behavioral Health Unit provides you the opportunity to work with mental health patients. We serve persons who are experiencing a severe psychiatric crisis and in need of an inpatient setting for safety, care and treatment to stabilize the immediate crisis. Treatment is individualized and quality care is provided that best suits the needs of our patients. There is an emphasis on maintaining safety, medication stabilization and the development of individualized coping skills in response to the crisis. You will support your main unit, but be cross-trained in all four units. Varying shifts available in the following units: Adult Psych Unit, Senior/Geriatric Psych Unit, MICA (Mentally Ill/Chemically Addicted), and CRISIS ER.

Responsibilities

  • Addresses the medical and psychiatric needs of patients experiencing mental health and substance abuse problems.
  • Affording all patients and their families with a professional, caring, and safe environment.
  • Providing clinical and safety standards in order to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
  • The RN is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient where assigned.
  • Planning the nursing care needed, including spiritual, emotional and physiological needs.
  • Seeing that the plan of care is carried out through performance and or leadership of supervised personnel.
  • Evaluating the plan of care.
  • The LPN is directly accountable to the Nurse Manager for the quality of patient care delivered.
  • Modifying and delivering care that is specific to the age, growth and development of patients according to the unit scope of services.
  • When serving in the charge role, the LPN is responsible for clinical and leadership functions.

Requirements

  • A NYS License.
  • BLS Required.
  • Must possess the ability to assess, plan, direct, intervene and evaluate patient care.
  • The LPN must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
  • 1 year of RN experience preferred.
