About the position

As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking, you lead multiple teams and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team's work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Demonstrates overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle with solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security.
  • Leads evaluation sessions with internal teams to promote outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of application designing & building, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
  • Hands on building software with excellent understanding of architecture and design across all systems.
  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance, and software improvement.
  • Pragmatism and the ability to strike the balance between the need for process versus the need to accelerate project delivery and not overburden teams with unnecessary administrative overhead is key.
  • Expert in Java, Python, Databases (SQL/NOSQL), Kafka, Spring, Spring Boot, AWS.
  • Hands-on practical experience building & delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s) like Java, Python, SQL and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Drives, supports, and delivers on a strategy to build broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., AWS Step functions, AWS Aurora Postgres, CloudWatch, EKS, ECS, AWS Secrets Manager).
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Practical cloud native experience.
  • Hands on DevOps experience.
  • Advantage of having Cloud Certification but not compulsory.
  • Hands on Deployment pipelines experience.
  • Having Cobol or Mainframe knowledge will be big advantage.
  • Experience with Logging, Observability and Monitoring tools.
