We provide operational, information technology, and risk mitigation services to our brands within the Merchants & Marine Bancorp ecosystem, a well-established holding company with a staff of approximately 300 employees. We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and versatile Marketing & Communication Specialist to join our marketing team. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to support and shape the marketing efforts of multiple brands within our growing Family of Brands, including Merchants & Marine Bank, Mississippi River Bank, Canvas Mortgage, CannaFirst Financial, and Voyager Lending. As a key contributor, you will work closely with the Marketing Manager to develop and execute marketing strategies, campaigns, and content that elevate brand presence, engage target audiences, and drive business results. From storytelling and social media to print design and internal communications, this position requires a balance of strategic thinking, visual creativity, and a strong attention to detail. This position also requires a willingness to adapt to a variety of tasks and requests from the marketing department as priorities evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Design flyers, social media graphics, digital ads, and other marketing collateral using Adobe Creative Suite and/or other graphic design tools.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, blog posts, and marketing copy across various platforms.
  • Take initiative on assigned projects, ensuring they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Manage and execute social media content calendars for the Family of Brands.
  • Develop creative campaigns and monitor engagement across platforms.
  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of social media campaign efforts through tracking and reporting.
  • Regularly update brand websites with new content, imagery, and announcements.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure websites are timely and accurate.
  • Capture and edit high-quality photos and video content for use in marketing materials, social media, etc.
  • Plan and execute photo and video shoots for brand campaigns, events, and team features.
  • Maintain a consistent visual identity across all visual content.
  • Assist with the coordination and promotion of events, sponsorships, and community involvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members to execute event logistics, branding, and on-site support.
  • Capture event content for use in post-event marketing and social media.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across all six brands to understand needs, gather content, and align messaging.
  • Develop and design engaging content for various channels, including social media, email campaigns, websites, and internal platforms.
  • Contribute to brand consistency across all marketing and communication touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to execute integrated marketing plans for multiple brands.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and assist with idea generation for new campaigns and creative assets.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to bring fresh ideas to the table.
  • Other job duties as assigned to assure team effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Advertising, or a related field would be preferred, and/or 2-3 years of marketing or communication experience.
  • Social media marketing experience across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others.
  • Proficiency/willingness to learn Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Lightroom) and/or similar design platforms (e.g., Canva).
  • Experience with digital marketing campaigns, trend analysis, and strategic campaign development.
  • Experience/willingness to learn video shooting and editing, as well as basic photography and photo editing.
  • Experience with event planning and logistics coordination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of website content management systems (WordPress or similar).
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset and a positive attitude toward teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Strong sense of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategy and a willingness to contribute fresh ideas.
  • Willingness to wear multiple hats and utilize multiple skills within the field of marketing, advertising, and communication.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Benefits

  • 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday - Overtime or extended hours occasionally.
  • Some travel may be necessary for customers and branch locations.
  • Off-site training or conferences may be necessary, with the possibility of overnight.
