About the position

The Marketing & Communications Specialist role at the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce is designed for someone early in their career who is eager to gain hands-on experience in social media, content creation, email marketing, and event support. This position is crucial in telling the Chamber’s story, highlighting members, promoting local businesses, and showcasing events that contribute to Eugene's vibrancy. The role requires strong communication skills, project coordination, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Marketing & Strategic Communications and be part of a supportive, mission-driven team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily social media activity across multiple platforms.
  • Draft, schedule, and publish posts using a consistent content calendar.
  • Track engagement and make basic content performance notes.
  • Capture photos and videos from events and community activities.
  • Draft and distribute weekly and monthly eNewsletters.
  • Maintain and segment subscriber lists for email marketing.
  • Assist with marketing and communications for Chamber-hosted events.
  • Coordinate day-of logistics for events.
  • Draft and distribute press releases and community announcements.
  • Create flyers and social graphics using design software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Canva and/or Adobe InDesign or equivalent design software.
  • Experience managing professional social media accounts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create content that connects with diverse audiences.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative spirit.

Nice-to-haves

  • Passion for community engagement and economic development.
  • Creative talent for photography, videography, or graphic design.
  • Experience with website management platforms or basic HTML knowledge.
