About the position
Primary Health Care (PHC) was founded in 1981 by Dr. Bery Engebretsen in Des Moines, IA. Our mission has remained unchanged since that time, to provide healthcare and supportive services to all, regardless of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay. Based on the needs of the communities we serve, PHC offers a spectrum of medical and dental services including family practice, behavioral health, HIV care and services, and pharmacy. PHC's Homeless Support Services is the entry point for serving people experiencing homelessness in Polk County. Enabling services are available to help patients with benefits enrollment, case management, transportation, translation, and patient education. We currently have locations in Ames, Des Moines, & Marshalltown. As a Marketing and Social Media Specialist you will be responsible for cultivating relationships with community and referral partners, including schools, and other non profit organizations. Assists with grant writing and fundraising. Represents PHC at community outreach meetings and events to raise visibility for PHC. Supports development of content for social media channels. Creates copy for website, internal communication platforms, newsletters, and other marketing collateral. Demonstrates PHC iCare values in daily work.
Responsibilities
- Drives patient visits by coordinating community outreach and education opportunities to promote PHC services.
- Collaborates with departments across PHC to promote services and programs.
- Creates content for blogs, newsletters, press releases, and marketing collateral.
- Assists in updating internal communications via the intranet and various communication boards.
- Assists with simple graphic design and website updates.
- Engages new donors and initiates stewardship plan.
- Assists in event planning and promotion coordination logistics and execution.
- Participates and assists in planning of fundraising tactics.
- Serves as the initial point of contact for inbound requests/inquiries online.
- Receives various tasks via the marketing ticketing system.
- Communicates with internal customers on timeline, coordination, and delivery of their requests.
- Analyses data/metrics, insights, and best practices to contribute to the continuous improvement of PHC's digital footprint.
- Performs data entry to track donor contributions.
- Researches and stays abreast of industry and technological trends.
- Provides administrative support to the Marketing & Fund Development Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite and various database applications.
- Detail oriented with excellent organization and time management skills; ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to solve complex problems.
- Valid Drivers License.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in intermediate graphic design, social media management or coordination, event planning, and/or community outreach.
- Previous experience in Website development and video editing.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish.
