We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic Senior Marketing Manager to spearhead outbound marketing, brand awareness, and lead generation activities for the newly acquired SSRN (Description below). This person will be responsible for driving revenue growth and market penetration, as well as providing support the health of the SSRN user network.

Job description:

This role will craft the messaging and positioning for SSRN and each of its revenue-generating products and will conceive and develop innovative marketing programs that drive demand and create awareness; develop a global marketing strategy for SSRN, based on an understanding of market dynamics, customer needs and competition in each segment and key region. Predominantly a B2B marketing role, this PMM will also support the B2C aspects of the SSRN business.

**Your responsibilities**

+ Customer & Market Insight Acquisition

+ Conduct in-depth analysis of customer/user information to drive marketing initiatives and results

+ Support Director in determining market segmentation and targeted buyer personas in order to maximize marketing focus on highest value opportunities

+ Spot trends, outliers, best practices, opportunities, customer behaviors/attributes through primary/secondary research

+ Work closely with Product Management to understand the product development roadmaps, assess how these developments translate to benefits valued by customers and reflect these views in the marketing plan and execution thereof

+ Contribute customer feedback to requirements for current and future products for marketing purposes

+ Market intelligence: be the expert on your buyers and users, how they buy and use the product. Be the expert on the competition and how to beat them

+ Market Strategy Formulation

+ Develop strategic marketing positioning and messaging to help differentiate Elsevier/SSRN products in the market and within the Elsevier Research Products portfolio

+ Program & Plan Development

+ Develop and execute an agile marketing plan for SSRN products and services, aligned with business objectives, (e.g., revenue growth, increased renewal rates, new customer acquisition, cross/up-sell, lead generation, customer engagement)

+ Develop and implement go-to-market plans, including customer-facing elements for new and updated products. Focus on marketing programs including direct marketing, content marketing, conferences, webinars, white papers, email communications, advertising and social media

+ Sales enablement: communicate the value proposition of the products to the sales team and develop the sales tools that support the selling process of the products/services

+ Manage marketing for product launches: plan the marketing activities with regard to launch of new products/services and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan

+ Demand generation: develop the marketing strategy and manage the marketing programs that drive demand for your products

+ Assess the effectiveness of marketing activities by tracking sales and analyzing results of campaigns, providing recommendations for improvement and initiating modifications to various aspects of campaign planning and execution

+ Liaise with the Sales and Business Development to ensure alignment of the product marketing plan and objectives for each region, country and segment.

+ Marketing Plan Management & Implementation

+ Establish strong influence in driving business development and sales initiatives to reach stretch goals. Implement all marketing, GTM, sales enablement and customer engagement plans and work closely with Mendeley Marketing Team to cross-market SSRN to all platforms in Elsevier Research Products department including Mendeley, Science Direct, Scopus, Engineering Village and STMJ.

+ Performance & Measurement Analysis

+ Utilize analysis from Quarterly Tracking Reports and other internal research reports to inform marketing plans, program and activities

**Qualifications**

**What you should bring**

+ Bachelor?s degree in Business, Marketing or a related discipline

+ 5 years of relevant marketing experience

+ Experience of marketing new technology/software products or digital publishing is preferred

+ Business knowledge of academic and corporate markets is preferred

+ Expert knowledge of key marketing tactics and strategies, providing consultation and guidance on best approaches to achieve desired results

+ Strategic and commercial awareness

+ Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third party suppliers

+ Strong planning and project management skills including a demonstrated ability to work to deadlines and juggle multiple projects in a matrix organization

+ Very strong written and verbal communication skills

+ Very good knowledge of MS Office products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Siebel CRM tools and Business Objects skills is a plus

+ Self-starter, self-motivated - comfortable with reporting to Europe-based Director
