About the position

The position involves hot and cold food production for retail sales, including slicing fruits, vegetables, desserts, and meats. The employee will set up for café sales by stocking food and paper products, checking food temperatures frequently, and documenting them on applicable forms. The role requires monitoring the temperature of freezers, refrigeration, dishwashers, and heating units, maintaining compliance with food codes and regulatory agencies. The employee will also be responsible for requisitioning, transporting, and replenishing foods and supplies, inspecting items for integrity, rotating stock, and disposing of outdated products. Additional tasks include properly wrapping, labeling, and dating food items, making beverages, maintaining cleanliness in the work area, and deep cleaning various equipment and areas within the café.

Responsibilities

  • Hot and cold food production for retail sales.
  • Sliced fruit, vegetables, desserts, meats for retail production and sales.
  • Sets up for café sales - stock food and paper products.
  • Checks food temperatures frequently throughout shift and documents them.
  • Monitors temperature of freezers, refrigeration, dishwasher, and heating units.
  • Maintains refrigeration units in clean orderly condition.
  • Requisitions, transports, and replenishes foods and supplies.
  • Inspects items for integrity and rotates stock.
  • Properly wraps, labels, and dates food items.
  • Portions and packages cold food items.
  • Stocks and cleans refrigerated display cases.
  • Makes coffee, juice, and smoothies; cleans beverage-dispensing machines.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work area and equipment.
  • Pushes food carts, racks, and dish bins.
  • May cook at the grill, fryer, or sandwich grill.
  • Deep cleans refrigerators, countertops, and entire café areas.
  • Maintains signage daily.
  • Uses standardized and non-standardized recipes to prepare foods.
  • Assists in other areas as requested.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Knowledge of several subjects to prepare reports and perform calculations.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Experience in restaurant or food service operations preferred.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.
