About the position

The Norfolk Companies is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and reliable Order Picker to join our warehouse team! As an Order Picker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive the right products, on time. You will navigate the warehouse to locate kitchen cabinets and countertops, scan them to confirm accuracy, and stage for loading onto our delivery trucks. Will also assist in the safe loading of the trucks. Your attention to detail will ensure order accuracy and contribute to our commitment to excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently pick customer orders according to pick lists within WMS.
  • Utilize RF scanning devices to scan product barcodes, verify items, and update inventory in the WMS.
  • Verify the items picked match the order requirements.
  • Prepare picked orders for shipment, including wrapping, labeling, and staging in designated areas.
  • Report any discrepancies, damages, or inventory issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Collaborate effectively with other warehouse team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support inventory control efforts and other warehouse tasks as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an order picker in a similar industry (e.g., building materials, cabinets, countertops).
  • Proven experience using RF scanning devices in a warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and order picking processes.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) - training and certification may be provided.
  • Ability to read and understand order details and location codes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude promoting teamwork.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control principles.
