Patient Care Tech - COA Nurse Apprenticeship

About the position

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a COA Nursing Student/Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Resource Pool to work on an as needed basis. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

Requirements

• Current student enrolled in the College of the Albemarle RN program.
• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Completion of one of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), or current work experience as a PCT or Nursing Assistant within the last three years.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.
