Avid is hiring Caregivers - CNAs and PCAs as paraprofessional members of our client care team to provide selected personal care services and limited related household tasks as part of the client’s plan of care.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and provides day-to-day Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) support to clients within their home as ordered by the physician’s plan of treatment and client’s plan of care.
  • Assists clients with personal care including baths, mouth care, denture care, skin care, foot care, grooming, dressing and undressing activities.
  • Assists with elimination needs (toilet, commode, urinal, bedpan).
  • Facilitates transfers and ambulation with or without mechanical aids.
  • Assists the client with therapy exercises under the direction of a Registered Therapist.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the client.
  • Plans and prepares meals according to specific dietary requirements of the client, and if necessary, feeds the client.
  • Performs light housekeeping of the client’s immediate environment and laundry of clients bedding and clothing.
  • Assists in completing activities such as shopping/grocery, errands, and appointments outside of the home.
  • Provides companionship and stimulation for the client including reading, walks, etc.; and accompanies the client to doctors or other appointments.
  • Utilizes equipment in an appropriate and safe manner.
  • Reminds client for self-administration of medication, but does not administer medications.
  • Accurately documents shift details and services within established time parameters.
  • Ensures the safety of clients and self by following Universal Precautions and demonstrating safe hand washing techniques.
  • Observes the client’s general physical, emotional, and mental status, and reports all changes in the client’s conditions.
  • Maintains and improves skills through attendance with staff development programs and inservice education requirements.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all professional areas and considers the needs of clients and their families.
  • Follows all agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current certification/registration with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Current PCA certification.
  • Compliance with all existing regulations and company policies.
  • CPR preferred and may be required for some clients.
  • Must meet transportation, language, and cultural requirements specific to branch needs.
  • Possess a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick.
  • Ability to read, write and carry out directions.
  • Maturity to deal effectively with the demands of the job.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bi-lingual – English/Spanish a plus.
